Every foreign dentist who wants to work in the Netherlands, needs to pass the Dutch Language Exam for Medical professionals to obtain the BIG-registration. Therefore, learning the Dutch language is an essential part of our project.
BGB Academy has been active for over ten years in training foreign dentists from the EU to integrate into Dutch dentistry. Our language course consists of four parts in which the students start from scratch and reach a B2+ level of Dutch after 4.5 months of online classes and classes in person.
The first part is called Code + Deel 1 and will enable you in to reach level A1 in 4.5 weeks through online classes three times a week. These lessons last about 1.5 hours so you still have enough time to continue working while following the course. Consequently, you will follow Code + Deel 2 which will take you to an A2 level in the same period of time. However, during these 4.5 weeks you’ll have daily classes from Monday to Friday for 3 hours each day. Therefore, we highly recommend to cease working at this point.
After reaching level A2, the online classes will discontinue and you will move to our physical location of the BGB Academy to follow the classes in person. This part of the course is full time and divided into three stages: Nederlands in Actie (4.5 weeks), Dentaal (4 weeks) and the Exam Training (4 days + the language exam).
During Nederlands in Actie, you will learn general Dutch up to level B1. These classes will be 6 hours long 5 days a week. When this stage has been successfully completed, we’ll start on the dentistry part of the language during Dentaal using our own method in our daily classes. But don’t worry, the weekends are all yours! This stage is known as the most fun part of the course as this is when you will learn all the terms and jargon you’re most likely to use in the dental practice.
After studying for many weeks with the goal of reaching a B2+ level of Dutch, we will focus on practicing the studied Dentaal material during the Exam Training of 4 days followed by the language exam the next day.
Once you’ve passed the language exam, you will receive a certificate which will be required to start the process of the BIG-registration.
